Fall '19 UMD Play-Day

Updated: Jan 4, 2021

The University of Maryland is arguably the most historic and successful women's program in all of Women's Lacrosse. Of the 36 National Championships since the inception of the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championships, the lady Terps played in 22 finals while winning 14 of those contests!

When one of the best teams in college lacrosse is in your backyard, you have to go watch them! To wrap up their pre-season fall-ball, the Maryland Terrapins hosted a play-day at their Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex that saw Maryland's lacrosse team play Florida, Stanford, and Virginia. In addition to those games against Maryland, each of those colleges played one another as well. When a chance to watch these Division One schools play against each other arose, a few of our girls jumped at the opportunity. From our Middle School Club Marryana Jiminez '24, Hailey Johnson '24, Ariana Noel '24, Valerie Marte '24, Yashi Gouda '24, and Jehan Idsassi '24 were accompanied by our Varsity Captain Kavya Gouda '21 and former program player Maha Idsassi '22.

For the price of $0.00, our girls were able to watch and learn from six Division One games! It was the opportunity of a lifetime to see these top rank teams from across the nation play right in our own backyard of College Park, Maryland.

"It was so weird, these are some of the best women lacrosse players in the world IN their prime and I just casually bumped into them in the bathroom...," a star-struck Kavya Gouda '21 would say to summarize the whole play-day.
